Sundhedssektoren dækker alt fra forskning over medicin til sundhedssystemer. Sektoren kan opdeles i to kategorier: “Health Care Equipment and Services” - også kaldet “medico” - og “Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology & Life Sciences”. Medicoindustrien består af selskaber, der udvikler, producerer og sælger medicinsk udstyr, mens “Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology & Life Sciences”-kategorien består af store medicinalvirksomheder og biotekvirksomheder, der producerer forskellige former for lægemidler og medicinalvarer. I Danmark har vi en særligt veludviklet medicinalindustri med mange børsnoterede virksomheder, der både er veldrevne og sunde. Sundhedssektoren rummer store investeringsmuligheder, uanset om man er til defensive, langsigtede og sikre selskaber eller de nye og mere risikable selskaber med stort kurspotentiale.
